I ran across this logo design competition organized by Pirkanmaan Taidesuunnistus ry (Pirkanmaa Art Orienteering association) in Spring 2016, and decided to submit an entry.
The Pirkanmaan Taidesuunistus ry requested for a new logo and the competition was open for everyone. They wanted to retain the ink splash style from the existing logo, but without the arrow that had gotten feedback as being "too directional". The logo was also to imply that art can be found right here, right now.
My design retains the ink splash in a new simpler form that enables the logo to be used in small sizes and in black and white. The paint tube, brush and sculpting tool represent the versatility of art that can be found from the orientation stops. Typography changes improved the leading and legibility.
My logo entry was not chosen by the committee. Their official graphic designer said that my entry was made professionally but wasn't what the committee was looking for in the end. The winning logo was made by an artist-designer and can be seen on their website.
